The Fragrant Spirit of Life

We have been very fortunate in the last year to have a professional film director, Gerry Straub of the San Damiano Foundation contribute his passion and talent to the work of Village2Village Project. Gerry's mission is to allow his viewers a window into the world of poverty…not a glimpse, but a long, hard look…and have their lives changed as a result. Gerry, co-producer and editor Chad Mochrie and associate producer Jeremy Seifert gave nearly 18 months of their lives to this film full-time. Along with a host of generous SDF contributors and intern Nicholas Ellsberg, they have made possible a feature length film that captures the heart and mission of Village2Village Project. The three minute trailer, at right, will give you an idea of how important a communication tool this will become for our work in Serere.

"We live in a time of profound paradox, but also profound possibility, and profound hope. The paradox is that this (extreme poverty) continues in a world of vast wealth and knowledge. The hope is the fact that we live in an age of vast possibility.
If we choose correctly, this kind of extreme poverty could be ended in our generation." (Jeffrey Sachs, Economist, Director of the UN Millennium Project)
